I took the scenic route to UX - studying health science at university and later working in marketing and web design.
While completing an internship at an HIV nonprofit in Cape Town, South Africa, I realized I loved the problem-solving aspects of my job, but not the strict rules around scientific research.
I taught myself digital marketing and some graphic and web design skills as I worked in various contract roles helping small businesses grow. It was here that I came across UX for the first time.
I found UX to be a great way to use both my analytical experience and love for creative problem solving.
From 2020 - early 2023, I worked on the product design team at FiscalNote helping to make issues management/legislative tracking software meet government affairs’ professionals needs. Since April 2023, I’ve been working on retirement fund management software at Millennium Trust Company (soon to be Inspira Financial).
When I’m not designing products, I’m probably wandering around the Pacific Northwest wilderness or petting a dog somewhere.
